Board work
Maximise the value of the board's composition

Board work today is changing. It demands more time, learning and interaction with more stakeholders. The leader of the board – the chair – has a very significant impact on the board's work, culture and learning.
We offer observation, attendance and advisory in human behaviour to ensure effectiveness and value in board work, and support owners in questions of board composition, execution capability and evaluation. Boards that do not function are contagious: it affects the CEO, the management team and the culture as a whole.
Chairs often have limited knowledge of psychology. We can be a qualified advisor in successful leadership behaviours and a valuable sounding board in a role that is sometimes lonely. We can also join an advisory board to bring in external competence in organisational psychology.
We offer coaching and tools in:
The role of the chair
What the chair can do to influence climate, collaboration, communication and results. Understanding human behaviour and conscious and unconscious processes linked to power and authority. It creates self-insight and self-awareness.
Corporate culture
Culture and values start at the top. Understanding culture as an enabler or a brake. The importance of psychological safety. Being attentive to how speaking time is distributed and whether all material information reaches the board. The importance of trust within the board and towards owners and the CEO.
Sustainability
Strengthening competence in social sustainability and health factors. Ethics and hygiene factors that contribute to a supportive environment with lower levels of ill health and higher performance. Under CSRD, companies must report competence in sustainability matters within both boards and management teams.
Composition and learning
What is the optimal composition of knowledge, experience and personality? Maintaining a culture of accountability around individual and collective learning: how well do we know one another and make use of one another? Building and strengthening relationships.
Rotation and onboarding
Group dynamics, group development, leadership and performance. Change takes time and energy. Rotation can bring new energy and effectively a new group. The balance between bringing in new competence and retaining culture carriers and history.
The starting point is tailored advisory based on the individual, the context and the goals of the organisation, in order to achieve lasting results. Focus on research and evidence-based methods, with an eye on the future.
